EWB National Office
Engineering Change Lab Animator
Toronto
Mark Abbott, P.Eng., MBA, currently serves as portfolio manager of EWB’s Engineering Leadership work and the “Animator” of the Engineering Change Lab, which is a platform for collaboration to allow individuals and organizations from across the profession to take action to address the systemic challenges (i.e. ethics failures, lack of diversity, and low levels of innovation) that have been holding back the profession’s full potential. The core Lab Team (which will be convening at this conference!) consists of 40 senior leaders (CEOs, VPs, Deans, Directors) each representing different organizations from across the engineering profession. Previously, Mark served as a member of the Executive Team at Engineers Without Borders for several years. Before joining EWB full time in 2011, Mark spent fourteen years working for a heavy industrial consulting engineering firm based in Vancouver. During this period, he also volunteered for six years with EWB’s Vancouver Professional chapter and he was one of the founding members of Fair Trade Vancouver. Mark and his wife Colette are the proud parents of Felix, who will be 18 months at the time of this - his second EWB conference.
